# How to Install Your Newly Purchased CadAndCuts 3D World Map: A Step-by-Step Guide

Adding a world map to your home or office isn’t just about decoration; it’s about inspiration.

While the final result looks like complex professional carpentry, the installation is actually a straightforward DIY project. The key is patience, precision, and relying heavily on the provided templates.

Follow this visual guide to ensure your wooden world map goes up flawlessly.

### Preparation: Gather Your Tools

Before you begin, make sure your wall space is clear. This specific map installation requires:

* The wooden map sections (continents and major islands).

* The paper "Placer" templates (crucial for spatial alignment).

* Painter's tape or masking tape (for holding templates temporarily).

* Level tool(optional).

* Mounting adhesive (included in the box).

### Step 1: Setting the Anchors (The Placer Templates)

This is the most critical step. If you get the anchors right, the rest of the world will align automatically.

Don't guess on the positioning. We use paper templates—which we will refer to as "Placers"—that act as guides.

* Determine your center point and desired height on the wall (generally eye level).

* Tape the templates to the wall. We started with two main anchor templates: "PLACER 1" (which determines the starting point for North America) and "PLACER 2" (for the Eurasian landmass). The distance between the far edges of your placers will vary depending on the size of the wall map. In this tutorial, we will use a medium size map(150cm by 90cm). A string may be provided which you will use to determine the distance between the placesrs

* Use your level. Verify that the placers are perfectly horizontal along their top or bottom edges before proceeding.

### Step 2: Installing North America (Placer 1)

With the templates secured, we can now install the first wood section.

* Apply Adhesive: Remove the backing from the strong double-sided tape on the back of the North America section.

* Fit the "Key": Align the specific corner edge of the Alaska/Northwest Canada section against the corresponding cutout shape of the paper template in "PLACER 1."

* Press Firmly: Once aligned, press the section onto the wall firmly, holding it for 10-20 seconds to ensure a strong bond.

The Placer ensures that North America isn't just level, but spatially correct relative to the other continents.

North America is securely installed, its location defined by the Placer 1 anchor.

### Step 3: Anchoring Eurasia (Placer 2)

Moving across the ocean, we now address the massive Eurasian continent.

* Repeat the adhesive process for the Russia/Northern Asia wooden section.

* The cutouts on "PLACER 2" guide the positioning of the eastern edge of Russia (Kamchatka and neighboring peninsulas). Fit the piece snugly against the template line and press it onto the wall.

Eurasia begins to take shape as the main Russia piece is aligned against Placer 2.

### Step 4: Completing the Eurasian Landmass

Returning to Eurasia, we now fill in the remaining missing pieces, which must connect seamlessly to the section installed in Step 3.

### Step 5: Final Alignment (The remaining Placers and Oceania)

The remaining segments are guided by the last templates.

* Secure PLACER 4. This large template guides the alignment of Southeast Asia, Indonesia, and Australia. Tape it to the wall, visually aligning the top cutout with the southern edge of India and China.

* Install Remaining Pieces: Using the specific cutouts on PLACER 4 as your guide, install the remaining islands (Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia) and the Australian continent. This ensures everything from Southeast Asia down to Oceania maintains the correct spatial distance.
